Dr. Carr Bettis, Co-Founder and Partner
Dr. Carr Bettis is a serially successful entrepreneur, executive and activist investor focused on highly scalable solutions across diverse industries, including the entertainment industry. He is the former Chairman of Emmersive Entertainment, a successful venture that included entertainment platinum recording artist Flo Rida and veteran musician and producer Erik "SMooth E" Hicks. The assets were sold in 2021. Carr was a producer of the film "Mrs. Worthington's Paty" (2007) and has helped financed other films.
During the first 20 years of his career, he was a founder, CEO, Chairman and chief architect of numerous market-leading financial science and technology innovations and businesses that have been acquired by Merrill Lynch, Thomson Financial (now LSEG/Refinitiv), Primark/Disclosure (now LSEG/Refinitiv), Institutional Shareholder Services (ISS) and others. Dr. Bettis jointly owns intellectual property with LSEG/Refinitiv via his IP firm CB Partners and is co-founder and Chairman of Verus Analytics, a 25+ year old quantitative financial technology company. He currently sits on selected boards, including AudioEye (NASDAQ: AEYE) as Executive Chairman. He also serves as an ad hoc advisor and consultant to other entities across a range of industries.
Carr is a former tenured professor and government appointee, having served as a Securities Administrator, Tax Commissioner, and Chief Financial Officer. He maintains a clinical affiliation with Arizona State University as Research Professor of Finance and is an Executive Mentor for Columbia University’s Center for Technology Management. His research has impacted policy and regulations globally and has been published in the most prestigious academic and professional journals, such as the Journal of Financial Economics, Review of Financial Studies, Journal of Financial and Quantitative Analysis, and the Financial Analyst Journal. He received his Ph.D. from Indiana University.
